The Client

Wrethink is a unique startup established in 2013 and based in California focused on “Helping families make their lives better, every day.” The centerpiece of the effort focuses on Rosy, the world’s first digital family organizer. Wrethink is a web-based platform that makes cutting-edge AI and privacy technology accessible to all family members - children, parents, and grandparents, alike.

The platform makes it easy for families to digitize and manage their memories with digital scanning devices. Rosy makes it a breeze to capture and organize photographs, videos, documents, stories, and more. All of these memories can then be shared with family and friends in a private and secure manner. The platform also helps families to plan and organize everything from day-to-day tasks to major life events. Additionally, Rosy provides families with a connection to selected communication and organizational services.

Wrethink’s Objectives

When we were initially approached in 2019, Wrethink’s development was well underway. They were working with a few development teams and Rosy already had a sizeable codebase. Wrethink’s plans included expanding the web-based platform with Rosy Go (a mobile version) and Rosy Home (a console version).

Wrethink’s initial requirements included a need for guidance on platform design, the rapid expansion of their development capacity, and additional backend skills to tie everything together. The scope of Wrethink’s requirements expanded over the term of our collaboration, as covered in the following three objectives.

Solution and Outcome

  • Binary Studio assembled a qualified team to be integrated into the ongoing development process. Our experience in managing highly-diversified software development environments helped the customer shape the communication between departments and make the overall software development lifecycle to be more efficient. This was achieved by establishing proper communication channels, assigning key actors to the process, and working out a sufficient reporting model for each engineering team.

Ultimately, our collaboration successfully achieved Wrethink’s desired outcomes, as follows:

  • Stage 1

    The assembled team provided guidance on the overall architecture design of the platform and took the lead in completing the development of the set of core microservices.

  • Stage 2

    As the development progressed together with substantial improvement to the delivery process, a decision was made to extend the engineering teams with more expertise fromRazor Mass Systems. At this point, the consolidation of the software development over critical parts of the system took place. The consolidation included architecture design, back-end and front-end development, with cooperation on mobile and console implementation. Direct implementation of certain components resulted in our team offsetting the need for certain expensive third-party services with limited functions.

  • Stage 3

    To keep the growing software development routine at a high level of quality,Razor Mass Systems presented ideas for quality assurance strategies and provided specialists to cover the aspects of product testing. Overall, we kept the codebase covered with a full-spectrum of tests at 95% or greater as measured by Codacy.

Improved Cross-Team Delivery and Results

  • Cross-team development and delivery can be difficult to properly synchronize. Though our engineers were the last team to join the project, they were pivotal in synchronizing cross-team development efforts.Razor Mass Systems’s engineers collaborated with other third-party teams to improve the software development lifecycle and deliver results in the midst of continuous process improvements. Wrethink ultimately chose our team to lead their development efforts.
